Various Little Things

Olivia's development is incredibly fast. Here are the latest few things we've observed: When Olivia sees the Passat, she points to it and says "Ah Car." (Our Car.) *** As we walk through the Berkeley Streets on the way to the park she points at everything and names the colors she sees. "Boo. Ellow. Ack." *** When we are at the park and she sees a swing she says the following: "Up Sheesh." (Up Please!) And once in the swing, "High! Push!" *** She's recently taken to walking around and asking for "I Fives." (Hi Five), and slapping our hands. And, yes, she's still cuckoo for choo-choos. *** We watched Bambi the other night -- her first Disney feature. For the last two days she's wandered around plaintively saying "ahm-by! ahm-by!" *** She likes playing "I'm going to get you." She's a little less enthusiastic when you ask her to get you. But she's all for running, flailing her arms and screaming when you try to get her. She initiates the game by saying "immagongutu!"

Bounce!

Olive loves the teeter-totter (or as they call it out here "see-saw." She gets on and off, changes seats and insists on bouncing so high that her butt hits the seat with a whump! "Bounce!?"

Singin'

On the way home from the park Olivia started singing. I pulled the camera out and blind pointed at her in the back seat while still trying to drive (bad, I know). With luck she remained in the frame. It's not her best song, but you get the idea of how much she loves to sing. [ Small (2.2 MB) Large (5.8 MB)]

Room in Olive's House

Olivia has an Elmo house -- she loves to gather her family in the house until it's busting at the seams. As one person enters she begins to yell the name of the next person. "ah-sah!" "pop-pop!" "ah-ma!" "pi!" "da da!' "mommy!" She won't take "no" for an answer.

Aunt Sara requested that we take these shots.

Sam's Food

Olivia has been eating chicken. Is that a GASP I heard? Yes, she's been eating a healthy amount of grilled chicken the last few nights. We've used an odd technique to get her to eat it. We call it "Sam's Food." A few weeks ago, Jenny went to dinner with some of the Co-op Moms. And Olive was sitting next to her friend Sam. Sam has a healthy appetite and eats just about everything in front of him. And Olive began top pick things of his plate and eat them -- including Chicken. A few days later we bought Burritos at Cactus, and tried to get her to eat some chicken. She wouldn't touch it... until we asked her if she wanted some "Sam's Food." Then she ate it. We now dice up chunks of chicken, and use a big people fork (read, our adult forks) and spear a chunk and ask her if she wants some "Sam's Food." Works every time. She likes to pack so much in her mouth that we have to demand that she chew. It's pretty cute actually. Yay! for protein.

Mouse!

Play at the Park

Me: "Do you want to go to the park?" Olive: "Parh!" Me: "Do you want to go play?" Olive: (geting her coat and running to the door) "Pay!"
