Conversation

Olive and I went to The Bay Area Discovery Museum to spend the morning. We played for a few hours, and then Olive saw a child-sized bench. She crawled up on the bench and patted the bench next to her and said: "Da da, sit, eat." And I replied, "Would you like to eat?" And she said, "Yes!" I fetched her bag and her lunch and brought it back to her. I opened it and asked if she wanted some peas, pasta or raisins. Olive: "Ah-peets?" Me: (translating -- Pizza, which we had for dinner last night.) "No, we have pasta." Olive: "Ah-peets?" Shaking her head. "No, Home." Me: "That's rights, the pizza is at home." It's funny to be starting to have conversations with her -- even if Jenny and I are the only people who can understand her.

Olivia: 18 Month Doctor's Visit, Finally

After weeks of delays due to illness, we finally got to the doctor's office for our "healthy" checkup. Current stats: Weight: 25 lbs. Height: 35" Now we're right in the middle of the "normal" range for weight, and off the charts in height. Olivia continues to look like a noodle, and is perhaps a little less bony these last couple of weeks what with more food intake and zero vomiting!

Co-Op Activities

From Lisa: "Today the kids were absolutely adorable. We all had a blast and even Gabe cried when he had to leave. Usually it is go go go! We only left the house for about 10 minutes but no one seemed to mind. The first two pics are of Emma, Gabe and Olivia while Sam was taking a TWO hour nap. The first picture is of them "painting". They were totally into it. The second picture is of the threesome after lunch. Shelly and I were in the kitchen cleaning up and eating our lunch and we poked our heads out to see if everything was ok. They were sitting in a circle clapping and Oilvia was singing a song she had made up. Something like Da Da BABY!!! Da Da BABY!!! The third picture is of Gabe, Olivia and Sam while Emma was napping. They were getting down with the keyboard. We had a great day!"

More Cake!

This is Olive in mid-request for "more cake." What she really wanted, though, was more shipped cream. Silly girl.

What color is Daddy's Heart?

I was walking in the rain with Olive tonight, and she was actively stomping in puddles. She was dressed in her cute rain wear. I asked: "Olive, what color is your coat?" Olive: "Ellow" Me: "Right! What color are your boots?" Olive: "Ellow" Then I looked at my shirt which has "I love Spanish Harlem." written on it, with the "love" being a big, red heart. Me, pointing at heart: "What's this?" Olive: "eart!" Me: "Right! What color is Daddy's heart" Olive: "Black!" Sigh. They start so young, don't they.

Daddy's New Skateboard

Jenny's Uncle Gary made me a skateboard. Olive loves it. We just have to remember to keep it out of reach or wheel side up. Yesterday I walked out of the living room and heard a crash -- Olive had stepped on on, and then fell right off. Bonk! Ten minutes later, of course, she wanted right back on.

Playing with the phone

Thankfully we still haven't found Olive talking to Singapore or the friendly 911 Operator.
