Cheese!
Olivia has loved cheese for a long time. It started with String Cheese, moved on to the Horizon Organic Processed Cheese, a few tastes of Goat Gouda, and then sharp cheddar.
Tonight she demonstrated a taste for St. Agur Blue Cheese. forgoing the cracker and insisting on eating it from the end of a butter knife, bite after bite. She even seemed to appreciate a nibble of the Bosc pear between bites.
Strategy
Olivia has been needy lately, with four molars breaking through, a head cold and a bad, bad cough. She's wanted a lot of Momma time, but Jenny is also sick and can't stop every 3 minutes to pick Olivia up.
I was home for a few days for the holidays and was able to try to run interference. When I heard Olive say "Up-sheeseh" ("Up Please"), I would go over and pick her up. For the most part this worked well.
After a while, she decided she really wanted Momma. So I tried to pick her up and she stomped her feet and said, "Nooo!."
But Jenny kept trying to placate her by saying things like, "I'm sorry, I can't pick you up right now, I'm washing these dishes." or, "I'm so sorry sweety, Momma's hands are full."
After a short time, she turned to me and said "Up Sheesh," and I picked her up, at which point she turned to Jenny and put out her hands.
She discovered that if I lifted her up, she'd at least be able to plead her case at eye level.
Dressed Up for a Christmas Party
Olivia dressed up to go to Annie's Christmas Party. She was so excited. She was shy at first, but then excitedly found the tree, pointed at the lights and the ornaments, ate some cheese, drank some water. A true party girl.
About ten minutes later she passed out on the chair.
Up Please, Wipe Please
Olivia has had a cold, and she's been pretty needy. Below are two representative pictures of what we see all day. The first is accompanied by "Up sheeseh" (up please!).
The second has no words, just her looking at you while stretching her upper lip over her teeth and showing you the slick of snot on her lip. Wipe please is the message.
Stealth Molars!
We've been wondering when more teeth would make an appearance - Olivia's last teeth came in when we visited Wisconsin last July. Lo and behold, this morning we discovered not one but TWO molars, which have cut most of the way through.
This explains a recent loss of appetite, but on the whole these molars have come through with little fanfare, and wonder of wonders, no crankiness.
This is good news, because based on the last bout of teething I have been dreading the arrival of the molars.
Tooth count: 10. These will probably help in the consumption of solids. :)
Tis-Ew
Olivia has had a runny nose, and we wipe it for her often. She knows the word for tissue, and likes to empty the box of tissues, and wipe her nose with each one.
