Not Good for Babies

Liv had been asking the whole visit if we could get a Dumbo stuffy, but since she already got TWO Minnies, I told her it would have to be for Henry. She agreed, and we bought it, and then as we were walking to the hotel she leaned down (she was on my shoulders) and said, "Actually, Dad, Emma told me that Dumbo's are delicate and have hard things in their ears and that they aren't good for babies."

Commerce at Disney

Every single ride at Disneyland places you right into a store. A store full of candy, toys and trinkets. I had this conversation 93 times: Liv: "Dad, look at this." Me: "Yeah, look at that." Liv: "What is this?" Me: Insert terse description, followed by "Let's go, Liv." Liv: "Can I have one of these?" Me: "No Liv, that's [too expensive, not good for us, just like what you have at home, has too many small parts, will break in five minutes, etc.]" Liv: "But Dad! I haven't had one of those for a REALLY, REALLY long time."

Too Scary/Let's Do it Again!

Liv loved Disneyland. She enjoyed meeting the characters and running to rides and talking at length about what she liked and did not like. Disneyland the park is a fun place, full of happy things -- not a care in the world. The rides at Disneyland are, with some exceptions, mostly scary and dark. The kids rides are not for little kids. She ended up hysterical at the end of Toad's Wild Ride. (It wasn't until later that I realized that she thought she was actually driving the car and that she was entirely responsible for all the near-misses. She wouldn't hold the steering wheel on any rides after that. She wanted the ability to snuggle up with me and close her eyes, and if she was driving she couldn't do that.)

When faced with the Haunted Mansion I told her that I didn't need to go, but if she wanted I would go with her. She thought a few moments, and looked up at me and said, "Dad, how about we go when I am 8 years old?"

His name is.

We went to a character breakfast at one of the Disneyland hotels and it was served at Goofy's kitchen. She insisted that his name was "go-fee" (rhymes with moe-fee). We talked and talked and talked about this, but all she will say, while throwing up her hands is, "Dad! I REALLY REALLY know his name is Go-fee!"

Candy Confusion

We were sorting Halloween candy, looking at the pile of loot and she grabbed two Red Vine's. I asked her what kind of candy it was, and she said, "It's ticklish!"
