Late-night Recipes

Out of a deep sleep, 2:30 a.m. "Dad?" "Yes, Liv." "When you make pancakes you need butter and milk." "Yes, Liv. Go to sleep, it's late." A few minutes pass. "And cheese, too." And she falls asleep.

Long Time

Liv still continues to work on her concept of time. When we talk about things in terms of minutes, hours, weeks or days, she always responds with, "Is that a long time?" She often talks about future events, or missing friends, or going to school. Here are a few examples. "I haven't seen Gabe in a long time." (We saw him the day before.) "I haven't watched a program in along time." (She just finished watching a program.) "I always go to school." or "You always go to work." (She and I both go four days per week.)

Churning

"Dad?" "Yes, Liv." looking at watch and seeing that it's just before 4 a.m. "I had a scary dream." "That's OK. Come here." wrapping my arms around her, trying to fall asleep. Four minutes pass by. "Dad?" "Yes, Liv" "Do tornadoes exist in real life?" **** I quickly explained that they do exist, just not around where we live. It's so amazing how their little brains process information at all times. I just wish the questions mostly came up during the daytime.
