Phil Spector
No that Phil Spector has gone off the deep end, his creative spirit (and hair) have come to rest in Livvy.
I Like...
We've been pretty open about potty, genitals and the such, trying to make sure she doesn't feel weird about either of them.
She knows the word penis and vagina, and understands that those are the words we use for those things.
Openness means peeing in front of her, and this has had it's upsides both in terms of getting her interested in potty training AND the humor factor.
Today I was peeing in the bathroom and she barged in. I asked her if she needed to pee and she said no.
She looked intently into the bowl and then at me (you know, that part of me) and the looked at me with a smile and said, "Daddy?"
I said yes.
She said, "I like your penis."
Me, laughing, "Thank you."
She, looking back down, said, "And I like your pee-pee."
Sometimes
Olivia has been keen on the word "sometimes" lately.
Today I had wanted to take her on a bike ride. We headed out and I dutifully put her helmet on, but mine has been lost for some time. Clearly mom had set the bar.
She said, "We always wear helmets on the bike."
I explained to her that I had lost mine.
She said "Sometimes, you wear a helmet, unless you don't."
That seemed reasonable.
A mile or so into the ride she said, "Sometimes when you pick your nose, you need a tissue."
I said, "Yes, you're right."
And she said, "Sometimes you don't have a tissues and you wipe it on daddy's shirt."
Which she promptly did.
The Cow Looked Out the Window and Nobody Was There
Last night Liv asked me, "Will you play with me?"
And I said, "Yes, what are we going to play?"
She replied, "The game is called 'The Cow Looked Out the Window and Nobody Was There.'"
The game was as simple (and as complex) as the title.
Making a Momento with Grandma Connie
Grandma Connie has a tradition with the grandchildren -- they each make a set of hand prints and decorate to their own likiing. Livvy loved the process from the start of mixing the cement to the pressing (too hard) of each stone.
It's now likely nestled next to Sammy and Halle's gallery of prints.
I love my Mama.
At Matt's Bar, havinga Jucy Lucy (spelled correctly), Livvy and Jenny hace a a few minutes of fun.
Excelsior Beach
Olivia spent more time this week in the water than she has in her entire life. Jenny introduces her, below, to some of the concepts around swimmimg. I think Liv's gonna be a fast learner.
Olivia and Everett
Olivia made another friend -- Everett. Everett had trains. THOMAS trains. And he shared. That was enough for her. Everett showed Liv his favorite park, showed him the waterfall and even taught her how to fish.
