Dad and Livvy on a Chair LIft
Actually, it's a stationary chair lift, but we had fun anyways.
Playtime in the Snow
We got right out in the snow, trying everything: eating snow ("Don't eat the yellow snow!), tasting icicles, and sledding down snow drifts. Livvy seemed to enjoy the snow immediately. The one thing she didn't like was the mittens, which at size xxx-small, were still three times too big.
Breakfast in the Mountains
Brooks and Lisa prepared a hearty breakfast of french toast and bacon. We had to get our energy up for the cold, cold snow.
Puppet Shows
Inspired by visits to Fairyland, where she has now seen a few puppet shows, Olivia will frequently ask us "Do you wanna see a puppet show? It's about [insert name of train here]."
This morning she got up from the breakfast table and with great dramatic flair asked, "Do you want to see a puppet show?"
Then, assuming a warning/conciliatory tone, "It's a liiiitle bit scary."
Then, her eyes widening in emphasis, "Um, it's really, really, really scary."
"And, it's about a butterfly..." this of course makes T. Jay and I start to crack up... we're holding back our chuckes as Olivia finishes up, "and a crab that PINCHES!!"
The final flourish is Olivia jumping up in the air, brandishing her crab-claws. The kid has an understanding of drama... and, apparently, some interesting puppeteering concepts.
Long Drive & First Snow
Livvy got a new travel pillow, which helped her sleep on our long drive to the snow.
She remained happy, despite the long travel time. Momma helped entertain.
But when the traffic stopped, she wanted to play in the snow. We waited as long as we could, and the started to get her dressed to play, and the traffic moved! This happened three times. Then, the BIG STOP.
Livvy seemed happy that traffic was stopped, so we got dressed and got out. So the official first time Livvy played in the snow was next to a four lane freeway on March.
Day at the Beach
Livvy had breakfast and tehn spent the day with her frends at Alameda Beach.
Olivia: 2.5 Year Doctor's Visit
Weight: 33 lbs
Height: 39 inches
Olivia was only slightly shy at today's doctor's visit... she ended up becoming quite chatty, talking or singing for pretty much the whole visit.
As it turns out, Dr. Usem's kids love Johnny Cash, too. We're finding this to be something of a universal theme!
