Creating
Olivia loves drawing and painting, especially when it's collaborative. Here is an example when she was enjoying the introspective creative process, working alone.
Cranky in the Bath
She's not really cranky,, she's just learning to make more and more faces. No longer do we have the always-extra-sweet-looking baby. Now we have piggy face and cranky face baby.
Finger Painting
Oh, my! Olivia loved finger painting. She didn't complain too much when her fingers got goopy with paint. She got to explore color mixtures (a favorite topic of hers) and the special feeling that the finger paints have. This may be a multi-year affair.
Stinson Beach
We headed off to Stinson Beach with Adina and Oliver. We brought lunch, waited out the clouds and spent lots and lots of time running around, digging holes, burying our feet and watching the sea gulls steal food from our bags.
You can see that the day started off alittle rough, but it got better. (We figured we needed some sad faces on Olivia's site, lest you think she's all smiless all day.)
Day at the Zoo
Olivia and i had an impromtu trip to the zoo so Mom could get some work done.
We saw animals, but the main draw for this visit was climbing and rides.
The simplest things can be a whole lot of fun. Livvy climed on this ledge for a half hour while at the zoo. The White Throat Monitor behind her held no interest at all.
Olivia is getting more independent. Several times she asked me to stay where I was and she would wander off on her own. I kept a watchful eye, but let her think she was on her own. She also wanted to go on some of the big-kid rides. Mysteriously she was 36 inches tall at one ride, and only 35 at the others. So we got to try out the cars.
Happy Birthday!
Today is Olivia's Birthday. We celebrated on Sunday, and she had a great time.
This morning, I was giving her a big hug, and she said:
"No! No ! No! It's my body!"
She's getting old for her age.
The Day After
The day after a birthday, I've heard, can be a reall let fdown. Livvy didn't seem to mind (or maybe she didn't know) because she had a baloon.
