Breakfast

An early morning breakfast of cereal. Olivia, with her messed up hair and sweet morning disposition is an awfully fun package.

Eatin' a Dito

Olivia's two favorite foods are Burritos ("Ditos") and PIzza ("Ah-peets").

Play? Park?

Olivia loves the park. Most nights when I get home from work I'll ask her if she wants to play. She responds by saying "Pay!? Yesh. Park?" while emphatically nodding her head.

"Choo-Choo!"

This picture was taken at the precise moment when Olivia was emphasizing the second syllable of the word "Choo-choo."

Pylon Strategies

Olive played a complex game with these pylons/cones today. She began by stacking and unstacking them. Then she spaced them equally and stacked them back up. She did this several times, changing the order each time. Next, she moved each cone from one end of the park to the other. After placing a cone at the new end of the park, she named the next one she wanted by color and began the trek back to get it. She did this with three of the four pylons. Of course, when another, slightly older child saw her doing this the game was ruined. The big kid gathered up all the pylons and moved them back to the starting point. This destroyed at least 15 minutes of Olivia's work. Olivia watched as the older kid placed the pylons back in place. She contemplated for a minute and took the pylon that was in her hand and placed it in a very precise and well thought out place and turned to me and said "Swing!" So we went to the swings.

Artist

Olivia loves her tub crayons. And she has some compositions that she's been working on for weeks. Mostly though, she's very much into the temporary aspects of tub art, and the complex emotions that come from drawing something, only to destroy it with water later. Creating for the sake of creating, not attaching value to something just because she's made it herself. She's so very postmodern.

Poor Pilot

Olivia likes to re-sort and redistribute the house. Moving things form one place to another. Sometimes, the catalyst can be something as simple as "Hey! The dog is sitting there. I think I'll cover him with my toys."

Rollin'

Olivia spontaneously laid down in the grass and began to roll. I'd like to know who taught her how to do this? Who I say? [ Small (2.5 MB) Large (5.7 MB)]
