Halloween!

Olivia was a Queen for Halloween... it was a last-minute costume choice, but it seemed appropriate since her favorite song for the last 6 months has been "Old King Cole" and she's recently become enamored with the puppets on Mister Roger's Neighborhood: "King? Queen? Crown?" So, this kid is into pointy hats. And we indulged her. She proved herself to be a Halloween natural: she sprinted from house to house (flying, quite literally, on wings of SUGAR!! yes, it was her first taste of candy, and she liked it), trudged up stairs, said "Trick or Treat!" and "Happy Halloween" and "Thank You!" and then sprinted to the next house. She liked the whole process, and wasn't too demanding on the candy front. A little goes a long way in a 30-lb. body, so we did try to limit her intake. She said "Too scary? Too scary?" repeatedly as she walked up steps (a refrain in a Halloween book she read, I think) but clearly had no idea what "scary" means, because she wasn't the slightest bit scared. As soon as a door opened, she asked "Go in?" and had to be told that we weren't there for extended socializing. She also loved seeing her good friends in costume: we went out early with Ella, Emma & Gabe, and a good time was had by all.
