Stereo Repair
A week or so ago Jenny picked me up at BART and said that there was something wrong with the stereo. It was shorting out, making an incredible amount of static noise and spiking loudly. I hit the front of the stereo with my closed fist and it seemed to fix it. It looked like we had a loose wire.
For the next several days, we'd hit bumps and the short would come back, and then hit another bump and it would go away.
So we made an appointment for service on the car at the dealership, and figured it would be covered under warranty.
I left the car at the dealer and headed off to work. A few hours later I got a call from the dealership. "Do you have a little boy or a little girl?" the mechanic on the phone asked.
I was taken aback, but responded that we had a girl. He said, explaining, that he found a penny inside of the stereo that is making contact and causing the short. It'll cost $80 to remove. "Obviously, this isn't covered under your warranty."
Coming up next, a grilled cheese in the DVD player, I'm sure.
